I'm pleased to announce Intercast has been acquired by AmpLive, the leading distribution platform for live streamed broadcasts.
The transaction will provide substantial additional resources and value for existing and future clients. The entire Intercast team including myself will be joining AmpLive.
Intercast's core function is to distribute live video at scale, to wrap the content with viewer engagement functionality such as chat, Q&A, polling and e-commerce, and to provide a dashboard allowing for real-time optimization and analyses. In complementary fashion, AmpLive’s proprietary Attention Retargeting product helps companies build, segment, and retarget audiences based on viewer interest and behavior. Together, the newly combined company will offer a simple, self-serve platform and a fully-managed service for brands looking to generate views and drive performance for their live streamed events. I first met AmpLive’s CEO, Eddie Vaca, four years ago, and believe strongly in his vision for the live streaming space.
Market conditions made it perfect timing for this deal. Marketers are increasingly leveraging live video formats towards brand ambassadorship programs, while higher production costs necessitate significant and engaged audiences to ensure ROI.
The new platform addresses four critical issues concerning the successful, continued growth of the live stream industry.
- It enables content providers to reach highly targeted audiences at scale, while their events are live.
- Through its interactive frame around the video player, it organically keeps audiences engaged for longer periods of time.
- Through real-time measurement capabilities, campaigns can be adjusted and optimized based on viewer engagement, allowing for more effective, catered messaging and experiences for audiences.
- Attention Retargeting threads these features together by generating informational profiles on individuals who have engaged with events, including how they have engaged, allowing for highly targeted, long tail, effective outreach after broadcasts have concluded.
This deal marks a strategic inflection point for brands leveraging live streaming, and I couldn't be more excited to join Eddie in leading this effort.
